DSC_0123A day of fun and excitement…that was the overwhelming verdict of the Aber Dabba Doo Village Fair which raised more than £1,200 for charity, to be shared between the Chapel, the Alzheimers Society and the local branch of  North West Cancer Research. As usual the main event was the duck race. The river was in good flow, and 200 ducks made the perilous swim downstream to the finishing line driven on by a large crowd of keen punters. The various stalls in DSC_0216the Chapel grounds enjoyed brisk trade, and the children’s games went down a treat. An added bonus was the visit of the local fire service, giving the kiddies hands-on experience of a real fire engine. The Mwd field housed further attractions including live music, sheep weighing contest, mini steam train rides, period dress make-over, a stall organised by North Wales Wildlife Trust and a display of magnificent birds of prey fronted by our own local postman. Unfortunately the weather turned rather Aberdabadamp! towards the end of the afternoon, but it little to dampen the enthusiasm of those present. The organisers wish to thank everyone for their generosity and support , making it a thoroughly enjoyable day.

The village is in Showdonia National Park, at junction 13 of the A55. There is free parking at the bottom of the village and paid parking nearer the falls.
