The village played host to a group of ladies from Ontario, Canada recently. On a fine summer’s day they visited six gardens in the village and were entertained to tea including bara brith, Welsh cakes and scones at Y Fron. This is the second year running a party from Canada has visited Aber, and there are indications that this could become an annual event. The purpose of the tour is to introduce foreign visitors to the landscape and culture of North Wales, particularly Snowdonia. They were highly impressed by the “really cute” appearance of the village, and were fascinated by the variety of plants we grow…most of which would never survive the harsh winters of their homeland. As a generous gesture of their appreciation they presented a cheque for £150 which was donated to the Altzeimers Society.

The village is in Showdonia National Park, at junction 13 of the A55. There is free parking at the bottom of the village and paid parking nearer the falls.
